What's in a name?

Inner Circle Christian Youth Camp came into existence when Iron Springs Christian Camp Session 4 needed to find a new place to hold summer camp.

For years, one of the defining traditions of Buddy Fry's session at Iron Springs was the "Circle Devo" at the end of each day. Campers would make their way out into an open field, under the stars, and form concentric circles as songs were sung and hugs were exchanged. The coveted "inner circle" was initially reserved for the oldest campers.

In the last few years at Iron Springs, a new tradition was begun which rotated the inner circle group each night, allowing the younger campers the thrilling experience of being in the middle for Circle Devo. On the final night of the week, the older campers once again took their place in the inner circle to say tearful goodbyes to another memorable camp session and to each other, some for their last time as a camper.

As camp leaders struggled to come up with a new name for the transplanted camp session, "Inner Circle" finally rose to the top of the stack as the natural choice. It pays homage to our past, connecting the exciting future of Inner Circle Christian Youth Camp with the rich heritage and tradition of Iron Springs Christian Camp that brought us to where we are today.
